Weavers pay homage to a craft with mastering complex weaving techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries and have stood the test of time.
The history of the Kanjivaram is as old as our myths. Infact Kanjeevaram Weavers are said to be the descendants of Markanda, a mythical figure from an ancient era known for weaving clothes for the Gods themselves. Originating from the small town of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu we see markers of this heritage in each saree’s temple border, flora and fauna inspired motifs and royal colours set against gold.
